Nitro Bio

DJ Nitrogene taken around 2009.How do you write a good bio? Hmm. Let’s start if off with this.. I was born the week The Carpenters had the #1 song on the charts with “Close To You”. In July of 1970 I came bursting onto the scene in the small suburbs of Chicago.

My love for music was family inspired, and by the age of 9 I was starting my gigantic record collection. Yep, Vinyl folks…My first 45 single was Rod Stewart’s “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” My first album was the soundtrack for “Grease” that I got Christmas.

By the tender age of 14 I had started to collect 12″ Extended Singles, or Maxi Singles as the would call them. By the time I had my first paying DJ gig, I had around 50 milk crates overflowing with dance music, and dj only promo mixes.

In 1999 I moved to North Carolina, and continued to DJ. I just loved to watch people dance to what I played. We also had the best lighting guy on the planet. The tension we would build together made for some very awesome Saturday nights.

In 2002 I relocated to New Mexico, and began learning production. At the beginning it was FL Studio, and it was bare bones. Today I still use FL Studio but I also am found of Abelton and Sonar XL.

In 2004 I moved back to the Chicago area. I took a break from the whole DJ thing, but started to find out, music picks you and it’s for life. Fast forward to today…I love music again, have started to remix for contests and for myself. Copyright can be a fickle Bitch sometimes.

I currently review music for dragqueendiaries.com, as well as running a few other blogs and web projects. You can follow me on twitter or check me out on facebook.
